5U/6U Practice Plans

Coach Training Plans
We are providing sample training plans for you to use.  Feel free to print out and use at your practices and training sessions.

Sample 5U and 6U Training Plans 

Lions and Tigers 
Theme: All players will be "Lions" and "Tigers".
Practice Topic: Dribbling and Protecting the ball
Game 1: Alll "Tigers" try to kick the ball out of the swamp and rescue the ball before alligator gets the ball.
Game 2: Coach is the Lion King;    Little Lions dribble ball from Cave to Cave.


Pirates and Castles
Theme: All of the players are "Pirates!"
Game 1: Pirates to knock down Castles (use cones)
Game 2: Pirates to rob the Treasures (soccer balls) from players
Practice Topic:  Dribbling and Penetration


Cars
Theme: All players choose a "Car" such as Race Car, Red Car, Green Car, Police Car, etc.
Game 1: Red Light, Green Light (easy game but good for ball control and dribbling)
Game 2: Speed Racer: All cars race around the cones.  Coach creates special lanes (pitstop, crash area, etc.)
Practice Topic:  Dribbling and Ball Control


Cars Again 
Theme: All players choose a "Car" such as Race Car, Red Car, Green Car, Police Car, etc.
Game 1: Red Light, Green Light (easy game but good for ball control and dribbling)
Game 2: Traffic Jam.  Coach is the Junk Yard Car, attempting to take the ball away.
Practice Topic:  Dribbling and Ball Control
Work on Dribbling and Possession of the ball.    

Sharks, Minnows and Bears
Theme: All players to enjoy be chased by Sharks or a Bears depending on game.
Game 1: Sharks and Minnows.   Coaches are Sharks, Players are Minnows
Game 2: The Big Bad Bear.  Coaches are the Bears,  Players are animals who hid in caves
Practice Topic:  Dribbling and Ball Control
Work on Dribbling with pace;  Work on going left and going right with dribbling. 

The Ocean
Theme: Coach is the Shark;  Players are Minnows or another sea animal ( fish, etc.)
Game 1: Minnows are chased by the Shark.
Game 2: Shark chases sea animals to Sea Caves  (Caves have cones as protection)
Practice Topic: Dribbling, Ball Control and Penetration
Work on dribbling past the coach and others, protecting the ball, ball control and getting to the cave!
