AYSO Region 894 — CORE Program
Welcome to Region 894’s CORE Program, our recreational home for youth soccer in Harvest, Monrovia, Toney, and surrounding areas. Whether your child is new to soccer or wants to play just for fun, CORE offers a safe, supportive, and engaging experience built around AYSO’s guiding principles.
What Is CORE?
-
CORE is our primary, grassroots soccer program. It’s where most players begin and grow in the sport.
-
We serve ages roughly U5 through U19, with divisions tailored to the child’s age and ability.
-
We run Fall and Spring seasons, giving your child two chances each year to play, learn, and enjoy soccer in our community.
-
Practices typically occur once or twice per week (depending on division), and games are scheduled on weekends.
-
All coaching is conducted by trained volunteers from our community — many are parents just like you.
Core Values: AYSO’s Six Philosophies
Everything we do in Region 894’s CORE Program is guided by these six foundational philosophies:
Everyone Plays® – Every child is guaranteed meaningful playing time (no “benchwarmers”).
Balanced Teams – Teams are formed to be as evenly matched as possible.
Open Registration – All children are welcome. No tryouts.
Positive Coaching – Coaches encourage, teach, and build confidence.
Good Sportsmanship – We emphasize respect for teammates, opponents, and officials.
Player Development – We help your child grow as a player and as a person.
These principles ensure that CORE is fun, fair, and focused on growth — not just the final score.
What You Can Expect in Region 894
-
Age-appropriate progression – From introductory clinics (U5/U6) to full-sided play (11 v 11) as kids grow.
-
Volunteer coaches – All are required to complete background checks, SafeSport training, and coach certification to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
-
Affordable fees – Our goal is to keep costs reasonable, covering field use, insurance, uniforms, and equipment.
-
Community & fun – CORE isn’t just about soccer; it’s about teamwork, meeting new friends, and being part of Region 894.
-
Flexible registration – We accept registrations (while spots remain) and do not cut players based on skill or experience.
